Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is covered by a standard marine policy against direct physical loss to the vessel, bodily injury, property damage and civil liability, with EUR 6,000,000 third party cover for the skipper and crew. The charterer is responsible for the policy deductibles.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~56 HP engine burns roughly 4.5 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 95 L ≈ €143 at €1.50/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Turkey?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: No licence is required by Turkish law, but charter companies require proof of competence such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Unfortunately not. Dogs and all other animals are not allowed on any of our yachts.
Can I sail at night?
No, night sailing is not permitted, meaning the period from 30 minutes before sunset to 30 minutes after sunrise. Plan to be safely moored before dusk.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can cruise within Turkish territorial waters. If you want to go beyond them, you need our written permission first.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
You must be over 18, and a competent skipper and a leading crew member must be aboard whenever you're not safely moored. Single-handed sailing is not allowed. If we find you aren't competent, we may end the charter without a refund or provide a skipper at your cost.
What if I'm running late getting back?
Please tell us immediately and allow enough time to return, taking the weather into account. A late return is charged pro rata plus 25%, and you also pay the cost of bringing the yacht back if it ends up in a different port.
When is the best time to sail in Turkey?
April–October along the Turquoise Coast (Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye); hot, dry summers with gentle afternoon breezes ideal for cruising.
