Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat has a comprehensive insurance policy with a deductible; the policy is kept on board. Loss of profit is not covered.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
How many people can come aboard?
Only the people named on your passenger list can be aboard, and the group can never exceed the boat's maximum capacity. You are responsible for everyone on your list.
Can I use the boat for fishing trips, racing or giving rides to others?
The boat is for recreational charter only. Commercial operations, subletting, commercial fishing, sports competitions and carrying goods or passengers not on your list are not allowed. Transporting weapons, animals, drugs or dangerous substances is also prohibited.
What should I do if something breaks during my trip?
Tell us about the problem before arranging any repair, because we need to authorize it. Breakdowns from natural wear are fixed at our cost, and if you lose rental days we refund them pro rata (excluding extras). Damage from misuse is paid from your deposit.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return it in the same working order, with the same equipment and inventory as when you took it. We do a joint inventory check at handover. Anything missing or damaged that insurance does not cover is charged to you.
Who is in charge of the boat while we are sailing?
The skipper you name is in command at all times and cannot hand that responsibility to another crew member. If you prefer, you can hire one of our skippers instead.
