Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. You can lower the deposit by adding the operator’s damage waiver. Operator terms: All crew members must have current personal holiday travel insurance, including adequate accident and health cover, for the whole charter. The Company is not liable for any cover it does not provide.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~100 HP engines burn roughly 8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 168 L ≈ €314 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I sail at night or anchor overnight in a bay?
No. Night sailing and overnight anchoring in bays are not allowed because of insurance restrictions, so we spend each night in a marina or port. You can tie up to a restaurant buoy for a maximum of two days a week.
How many hours a day will we sail?
Your skipper sails for about 5 hours a day at most, unless you agree otherwise. The skipper plans the route and schedule with you, taking safety, weather and your preferences into account.
What happens if the weather is bad or the wind is very strong?
The skipper decides whether it is safe to leave port. If it isn't, the skipper explains the situation and you agree an alternative plan for the following days together.
Who helps with mooring, and what experience do we need on board?
This is a large catamaran, so the skipper needs a guest to throw the ropes during mooring. That person should hold a category B or C sailing licence or be very experienced with mooring. If nobody in your group is, we can provide a hostess or hostess/cook at a reasonable price to assist.
Will the skipper cook and clean for us?
The skipper handles navigation, mooring, anchoring and keeping the deck and cockpit tidy, and also shares local tips on anchorages, restaurants and sights. Cooking and cleaning are not part of the skipper's job.
