Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The crew and their personal belongings are not insured. The guest is advised to take out insurance for them.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. You can't sub-let or lend the boat, enter regattas, or use it commercially or for professional fishing. Only you and your appointed skipper may operate it, and night sailing is allowed only in safe weather.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You must stay within the territorial waters of the Republic of Croatia. Sailing outside them is not permitted.
What happens if bad weather delays my return?
We advise planning your route safely. If bad weather makes you late, please contact us for instructions. You will bear any extra costs the delay causes us, plus the late-return charge.
What if the operator doubts our sailing experience?
If we conclude the person in charge lacks the knowledge or skill for the conditions, we may forbid the boat from sailing. You can then bring in a skipper to help. If you don't want to skipper yourself, you need to appoint a skipper before departure.
What should I do if something breaks or the boat is damaged?
Tell us right away. You can have repairs done only after notifying us first. If there is damage or another vessel is involved, report it to the harbour master's office and draw up a protocol for the insurer. Please also check the engine oil daily, because damage from low oil isn't covered.
