About this boat

The new Fountaine Pajot Isla 40 is the exclusive entry-level model that iconvinces all along the line sailing on the Balearic Islands and at anchor in the most beautiful bays as well as at mooring. Our charter boat Isla 40 for charter from/to Palma de Mallorca comes in the Quatuor 2 version with comfortable 4 double cabins and 2 bathrooms with separate shower and extended forepeak cabin. This sailing catamaran thus offers space for up to 8+1 charter guests. The Isla 40 features impressive sailing performance, a remarkable innovative design, and light-filled interiors. You also rent an Oceanis version with many pleasant and useful extras for your unforgettable sailing holiday. The helm station has a second radio with AIS in addition to all instrument displays. Bimini and cake shack protect the driver from sun and wind. The driver's station is halfway between the flybridge and the cockpit. This allows for a good overview of the boat and good communication with the rest of your fellow sailors. The cockpit, equipped with teak and gas barbecue, invites you to linger. Here, close to the kitchen, is the ideal place to feast or simply enjoy the views of Mallorca's, Ibiza's, Formentera's or Menorca's beautiful bays. The sun lounger in the foredeck is ideal for sun worshippers and those who like the wind blowing around their noses. Extra equipment: Oceanic version, teak in cockpit, second VHF with AIS at the helm, electric toilets, 12 V fans, solar panels, gas grill, second refrigerator, gas oven, bimini for helm, dinghy on davids with electric winch and with 6hp outboard engine etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat is insured all-risk with an excess covered by the security deposit (per claim). Third-party liability covers personal injury and property damage up to EUR 5,000,000.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~60 HP engines burn roughly 4.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 101 L ≈ €173 at €1.71/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Spain?
A recognised sailing licence is required, with an ICC typically requested for non-Spanish skippers chartering a bareboat.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your charter area is the Balearic Islands. If you'd like to go beyond it, you need our permission first.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be used for racing, paid passenger or cargo transport, sailing practice for a qualification, or be sublet or handed to third parties. Towing is only allowed in a genuine emergency, and smoking below deck and leaving the boat unattended off an open coast aren't permitted.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip or my return?
If a storm warning or dangerous seas (from force 7 Bft) are announced, please stay in port or the cove, or head for the nearest safe shelter. Bad weather doesn't excuse a late return, so spend your last 24 hours close to the return port.
How many people can come aboard?
You can take only as many people as the boat's papers and our insurer allow, skipper included. We ask for a written crew list with names, ID details and ages ahead of your trip.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Please return it free of rubbish, with clean dishes and an empty holding tank. Unemptied holding tanks are charged at EUR 150 each (EUR 360 if clogged), and extra cleaning after return costs EUR 35 per hour.
When is the best time to sail in Spain?
April–October across the Balearics and Costa Brava; reliable warm summers, busiest in July–August with the occasional afternoon thermal breeze.
