Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All vessels are insured with a deductible equal to the security deposit in the current price list. Third-party liability and personal injury cover is included.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~60 HP engine burns roughly 4.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 101 L ≈ €189 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be sublet or lent to anyone else, and it can't be used commercially, for professional fishing or for diving. We also ask you to handle the boat and equipment with care.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters. Plan your route so that two days before the end of your charter you're no more than 40 nautical miles from the return port.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Please don't leave port or an anchorage if winds above 25 knots are forecast, or if the port authorities have banned sailing. If you can't get back on time for any reason, contact us straight away and follow our instructions.
Will you check my skipper's experience?
We may check your skipper's competence at handover. If they aren't able to handle the boat well, we can assign an official skipper for an extra fee. If you decline that skipper, you won't be able to sail and the paid reservation amount is kept.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Report any damage or malfunction to us immediately by phone. We aim to fix reported faults within 24 hours, and you're not compensated if we do. If you need a minor wear-and-tear repair of up to EUR 150, you can arrange it yourself and we'll refund it against the receipt.
