Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not personally — a skipper is included with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog on board?
Unfortunately not. Pets are not permitted on board. Smoking and wearing shoes on deck and inside are also not allowed, so please bring soft-soled or barefoot-friendly footwear plans.
Can I bring children aboard?
Yes, but children must be supervised at all times by an adult or nanny from your charter party.
Can I use my own jet ski or other personal watercraft?
Personal crafts are only allowed if you hold the appropriate licence and follow local regulations.
Can I start and end my trip somewhere other than the home port?
Often yes, but delivery or redelivery fees apply as extras. For example, Palermo to Sardinia costs EUR 2,500 + 22% VAT, and Sicily to Amalfi Coast costs EUR 1,800 + 22% VAT. One-way trips and other routes are available on request, subject to approval and advance notice.
What happens if the weather affects our itinerary?
Any itinerary is a suggestion and depends on weather, sea conditions and the Captain's approval on the day. Berths in your chosen ports can't be guaranteed, so we'll do our best to adapt the plan safely.
