Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is delivered insured with (a) a Mediterranean hull (kasko) policy up to total loss, whose deductible is covered by the Charterer's security deposit, and (b) the mandatory third-party liability policy with a fixed EUR 500 deductible.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~55 HP engine burns roughly 4.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 92 L ≈ €179 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pets on board?
Not by default. Animals are only allowed on board if we have agreed to it in advance, so please ask before you book.
Can I sail at night or use the boat for water sports?
Sailing is permitted between dawn and dusk only, unless we have authorised night sailing. Water skiing and towing activities (even with the dinghy), regattas, and bringing windsurf, kitesurf, surf or canoe gear are not allowed without our permission, and the boat is for private recreational use only.
Where am I allowed to sail?
We recommend staying within 12 nautical miles of the coast, and you receive detailed charts showing this area and the forbidden zones. Entering forbidden zones is penalised, and sailing beyond the recommended area needs our written approval and up-to-date charts.
What if the weather turns bad?
You should stay in port whenever seas exceed Beaufort force 5, the forecast warns of dangerous conditions, or the port authority says so. Sailing in off-limits weather carries a penalty and makes you liable for any damage.
What happens if you think my crew lacks the skills to sail the boat?
We may check the skipper's licence and run a practical sailing test. If we judge that nobody aboard can sail safely, we can stop you leaving the marina, and you could then stay aboard only as tourist accommodation, without a refund. Please make sure your skipper is experienced with this type of yacht.
When is the best time to sail in Italy?
May–October, warm and settled in summer; July–August are hottest and busiest, with afternoon thermal breezes common.
