Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: Price includes compulsory third-party liability insurance, comprehensive (Casco) insurance up to the registered vessel value, and crew accident insurance. Casco covers damage exceeding the deposit, but not intentional damage or gross negligence.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~57 HP engine burns roughly 4.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 97 L ≈ €181 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or cat on board?
Pets are not allowed unless we have agreed to it beforehand. If we approve, an additional cleaning fee applies according to our current price list.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters. If you want to leave them, you need our written consent in advance.
Can I sail at night or take part in a race?
Night sailing is not permitted; we ask you to sail only in safe weather and good visibility. Regattas and races need our prior consent, and towing another boat, subleasing or commercial use are not allowed.
What happens if bad weather delays my return?
Please plan your route carefully and return to the marina the evening before handover day if you can. If bad weather makes you late, you cover the costs this causes us, so contact the base manager as soon as you know.
What if the skipper's experience isn't enough?
If we find that your skipper lacks the navigation skills needed, we can stop the departure and assign one of our skippers, charged per our price list. If you refuse the appointed skipper, we may cancel the charter and keep the amount paid.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
