Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat is insured against all maritime risks, including third-party liability. Major damage or accidents must be reported within 12 hours to the maritime officials (Harbor Captain or Police) and to the charter base, otherwise the insurer will not accept the case and the client…
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~57 HP engine burns roughly 4.6 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 97 L ≈ €181 at €1.87/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Animals are only allowed aboard with our prior consent, so please ask us before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat can't be sublet, lent out, used commercially or for professional fishing, or entered in regattas, and it can't be used to tow other vessels except in an emergency. Leaving Croatian waters needs a special written permit from us.
Can I sail at night or in bad weather?
Night sailing is only allowed in safe weather conditions. A sailboat must not leave a sheltered harbour in gusts of 25 knots or more, and a motor yacht should only leave when the forecast and sea conditions allow.
What happens if my skipper doesn't have enough experience?
If our base manager decides the skipper lacks the knowledge or ability to handle the boat, we can require a professional skipper for safety, at an extra cost. We may also require one if the licence is missing or not valid.
What should I do if something breaks during my charter?
Report it to us immediately. If a technical problem stops you from sailing safely, we'll solve it within 24 hours, including help at sea if needed, or try to offer a replacement boat. Please also check the engine oil and water every day, because damage from low oil or water isn't insured.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
