Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: All boats are insured against third-party liability, damage to hull, machinery and equipment, third-party and passenger liability for any one accident, and sea pollution liability. Marine insurance is included in the charter fee.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~28 HP engine burns roughly 2.2 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 46 L ≈ €90 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
On a bareboat charter you need two experienced crew members: a skipper with an appropriate sailing certificate or sailing club membership, and a co-skipper with sailing experience. If we judge your skills aren't sufficient, we may ask you to hire a professional skipper.
Can I hire a skipper or hostess?
Yes, you can add a professional skipper at EUR 150 per day or a hostess at EUR 100 per day. A skipper is a good option if you'd like extra experience on board.
What do I need to do about cleaning at the end of the trip?
End cleaning is obligatory and paid at the base before you set off, with the price depending on the yacht's size (from EUR 80 to EUR 180). That way you don't need to do the final deep clean yourselves.
Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes, one set of bed linen and towels per person per week is included, along with blankets. Extra linen sets and beach towels can be added for EUR 10 each per booking.
Can you stock the boat with food and drinks before we arrive?
Yes. We can send you an order form to fill in and email back, and your food and drinks will be on board when you arrive. The preparation fee is EUR 50 per booking, and groceries are paid for separately.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
