About this boat

The maestral fills in around midday and fades by evening, so a week here is easy sailing with a short hop between harbours. Friends and first-timers get sheltered water behind the islands and a town quay most nights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is insured under the terms of the insurer. Kasko deductible franchises are covered up to the deposit amount per the current Price List, including damage from third parties.
Do I need a sailing licence in Croatia?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: At least one crew member must hold a recognised sailing licence (ICC or national equivalent) plus a VHF/SRC radio operator certificate, both checked on arrival.
Can I bring my dog or cat on board?
Sorry, no. Pets of any kind are not allowed on board.
Where am I allowed to sail?
You can sail within Croatian territorial waters. If you'd like to go beyond them, you need a signed permit and the related documents from us first.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
You should only sail in safe conditions, up to force 6 Beaufort and with good visibility. Never leave port if the port authorities have banned departures. The return deadline still applies whatever the weather, so plan some buffer.
What sailing experience does my crew need?
Your skipper must have the competence for safe navigation, an open-sea licence and a GMDSS radio licence. We may ask you to show your skills at sea with one of our representatives on board, and that time counts as part of your charter. If we find the experience insufficient, we'll provide a skipper at extra cost.
What should I do if something breaks or gets damaged?
Tell us immediately, even for ordinary wear and tear. For accidents or damage, record what happened, report it to the nearest Harbour Master's Office and get a verified report. Damage that isn't reported straight away may not be covered by insurance, which would leave you responsible for the full cost.
When is the best time to sail in Croatia?
May–October, with the most reliable maestral winds and warm seas in June–September; July–August are the hottest and busiest.
