Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The yacht is delivered insured under a pleasure craft hull damage policy and a mandatory third-party liability policy. The insurance does not cover loss of or damage to the belongings of the charterer and those on board.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~160 HP engines burn roughly 12.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 269 L ≈ €525 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
No animals may be kept on board unless we have authorised it in advance, so please ask us before you book if you plan to travel with a pet.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. The boat is for you and the crew on your crew list only, with no commercial use, regattas, water skiing, towing water toys (even with the tender) or carrying windsurf, surf, kitesurf or canoe gear. You also can't tow other boats or be towed except in a real emergency.
What happens if the weather turns bad during my trip?
You must not sail in conditions above Beaufort force 5, or when forecasts predict them shortly, and you should follow any maritime authority bans. Plan your route so you can head back early if the forecast worsens, because breaching this rule makes you liable for any resulting damage.
Where am I allowed to sail?
Your charts cover our recommended area: the Aeolian, Egadi and Pontine Islands, North Sicily, the Amalfi and Cilento coasts, the Tuscan Archipelago, Corsica, North Sardinia and the North Adriatic. To go anywhere else you need our written authorisation and up-to-date charts.
What condition should I return the boat in?
Return it tidy, with the kitchenware cleaned and stowed and the sailing equipment complete. Sort your waste and hand it over only on the last day, up to 3 bags. If it isn't returned clean, you pay double the cleaning cost, and each badly sorted or extra bag costs EUR 50.
About Porto Rotondo, Marina di Asfodeli
Marina di Asfodeli sits at Punta Asfodeli just outside Porto Rotondo, a refreshingly low-key spot compared to the glitzier marinas nearby. You get the full essentials — electricity, water, showers, bathrooms, and waste removal — without the overcrowded, impersonal feel of bigger… Read more →
