Frequently Asked Questions
Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the vessel (hull, third party, water-skier and water-sports equipment liability, war and strikes, crew), and the charterer benefits from this cover.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~160 HP engines burn roughly 12.8 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 269 L ≈ €525 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not personally — this boat requires a skipper, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or another pet on board?
Not automatically. Pets or other animals are only allowed with the owner's prior written consent, so please ask us before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Yes. Illegal drugs and weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited, and your party must not cause a nuisance or break the laws of any country you visit. If the Captain warns you in writing and the behaviour continues, the charter can be ended without any refund.
Where can I sail and how long can we be under way each day?
You need to stay within the agreed Cruising Area and only in waters where the vessel is legally permitted to go. Time under way averages six hours a day, unless the Captain agrees to more.
How many people can come aboard?
You can have up to the maximum number of guests for sleeping or cruising at any time. While we are securely moored in port, the Captain may allow a reasonable number of visitors on board. If you bring children, you stay responsible for their conduct and entertainment.
What happens if the boat breaks down during my trip?
Tell the Captain in writing straight away. If the boat is out of use for 12 to 48 consecutive hours (or one tenth of the charter, whichever is shorter) through no fault of yours, you get a pro rata refund or an extension.
