Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The boat is covered by fully comprehensive insurance (up to total loss), with the deductible covered by the Charterer's security deposit, and by compulsory third-party civil liability insurance.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~80 HP engines burn roughly 6.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 134 L ≈ €261 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Italy?
Not if you add a skipper — this boat offers one, who holds the licence. Generally, though: The skipper needs a valid sailing licence and VHF certificate, ideally issued by their country of residence (an ICC is widely accepted).
Can I bring my dog or other pet on board?
Animals aren't allowed on board unless you agree it with us and the skipper beforehand. If you'd like to bring a pet, ask before you book.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
The boat is for pleasure cruising only, for you and your own crew. Chartering it on, carrying goods or paying passengers, racing in regattas and towing other boats (except in an emergency) are not allowed. Weapons, explosives, drugs and spirits are also banned on board, and smoking is not permitted on deck.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
Safety comes first. The skipper can change the route or destinations if the weather requires it, and sailing in seas above force six is not allowed. Weather delays or early returns don't entitle you to a refund or compensation.
What if the boat breaks down during my charter?
We'll keep any repair stop as short as possible. If it lasts 48 consecutive hours or less, no compensation is due. If it lasts longer, we refund an amount proportional to the time lost.
Where can I sail, and do I need to stay in touch?
Your sailing area is agreed when you book. If you want to go beyond the recommended area, you'll need detailed nautical charts for those waters. You should also contact us at least once a week to report your position.
