Frequently Asked Questions

Is this boat insured, and who pays for damage?
Yes — every boat on charter.boats is insured by its operator; we require it. The policy covers the vessel for fire, collision and third-party liability. For damage it doesn't cover, your liability is usually limited to the security deposit, except where the operator's terms say otherwise. Operator terms: The owner insures the vessel at their own expense as required by legislation for professional pleasure yachts. Travel insurance, cancellation/curtailment insurance and charterer's liability insurance are highly recommended and must be arranged by the charterer.
How much will fuel cost?
Fuel isn't included — you return the tank full. Estimated from engine power: this boat's ~767 HP engine burns roughly 61.4 L/h while motoring, so a typical week (about 3 h a day, ~21 h) works out to roughly 1289 L ≈ €2514 at €1.95/L — scale it to your own plans.
Do I need a sailing licence in Greece?
Not personally — a skipper is included with this boat and holds the licence. Generally, though: Two crew with proof of competence are required — a skipper holding an ICC or national equivalent and a co-skipper who signs a declaration of sailing experience.
Can I bring my dog on board?
Pets are only allowed with the owner's prior approval, so please ask us before you book and we'll confirm for your trip.
What happens if bad weather affects my trip?
If your planned route can't be sailed for safety or weather reasons, we'll first offer an alternative excursion. If that isn't possible or you don't want it, we'll offer another date, subject to availability. If neither works, the payment is refunded minus a small administration fee.
Are there limits on how I can use the boat?
Smoking is not allowed inside the yacht, and illegal drugs and weapons are strictly forbidden and can end the charter immediately with no refund. The captain can also stop any activity that puts people or the yacht at risk.
How many people can stay aboard, and what are the facilities like?
On daily charters, one cabin and one WC are available to you and your guests unless we agree otherwise. Children must be supervised by an adult in your group at all times. Please treat the toilets and showers gently, as blockages from items like toilet paper or sand are charged to you.
Can we use the jet ski or other water toys?
Yes, with conditions. Jet ski use needs a valid licence and the captain supervises and can reduce the speed or refuse use if he judges it unsafe. The Sea Bob needs no licence, but children under 12 must have a parent with them. Please keep it away from sand and pebbles, as you'd be responsible for any damage.
When is the best time to sail in Greece?
April–October, hot and dry with the strong northerly Meltemi wind peaking in July–August, especially across the Cyclades.
